Dr. Farshid Pahlevani

Dr. Farshid is an international expert on innovative solutions for waste challenges. His international research career, spanning high profile research institutes in Japan, Singapore and Australia, includes considerable experience working closely with industry to improve existing processes to achieve better environmental outcomes and greater cost efficiencies. He has 6 international patents, more than 100 articles published worldwide and attracted millions of dollar research funding. His solutions enable manufacturing industries to save millions of dollars and turning their waste into resources.
He has joined University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in April 2015 as a process metallurgist with specialist research skills and knowledge to support the innovative efforts at the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT) to utilise waste as a resource in the production of a new generation of green materials/products. Since then, he has not only made considerable progress in incorporating waste into metals manufacturing, but he has successfully adapted and applied metallurgy knowledge to achieve the transformation of non-metallic wastes into green materials. He has been selected as the most innovative engineer of the year in 2020.
Dr. Jacob F. N. Dethan

Jacob Dethan completed his Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) at Universitas Nusa Cendana in 2011. He has worked for few months at Indonesian National Electric Company during his job training when he was doing his undergraduate degree. He worked particularly at Diesel Power Plant at Tenau Kupang observing the diesel power plant working system.
In 2014, he was awarded a prestigious Australian Scholarship called Australia Awards Scholarship. He spent two years at University of Southern Queensland and his thesis was about energy storage system, specifically the nickel iron battery. Soon after the completion of his Master’s Degree in 2016, he was awarded higher degree by research scholarship by Monash University Malaysia which then upgraded to Merit Scholarship in 2017 for his PhD degree. He has been working at Universitas Buddhi Dharma in Indonesia since December 2016 as an Academic in Electrical Engineering Department. Currently, he is the Head of Electrical Engineering Department at this university.
His research interests are Nanotechnology, Fuel Cell, Hydrogen Energy, Energy Storage, Power Electronics, Strength of Materials and Heat Transfer.
Dr. Ramesh C Bansal

Ramesh Chand Bansal (Senior Member, IEEE) was a Professor and the Group Head (power) with the ECE Department, University of Pretoria (UP), South Africa. Prior to his appointment at UP, he was employed by The University of Queensland, Australia, The University of the South Pacific, Fiji, BITS Pilani, India, and Civil Construction Wing, All India Radio. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Sharjah. He has significant experience of collaborating with industry and Government Organizations. He has made significant contribution to the development and delivery of B.S. and M.E. programmes for utilities. He has extensive experience in the design and delivery of CPD programmes for professional engineers. He has more than 25 years of diversified experience of research, scholarship of teaching and learning, accreditation, industrial, and academic leadership in several countries. He has carried out research and consultancy and attracted significant funding from Industry and Government Organisations. He has published over 300 journal articles, presented papers at conferences, and books and chapters in books. He has Google citations of over 8500 and H-index of 41. He has supervised 20 Ph.D. students, four Postdoctoral Researchers, and currently supervising five Ph.D. students. His diversified research interests are in the areas of renewable energy (wind, PV, DG, micro grid), and smart grid.,Prof. Bansal is a Fellow and Chartered Engineer of IET, U.K., and a Fellow the Institution of Engineers, Australia, the Institution of Engineers, India, and SAIEE. Dr. Pratima Singh

Dr Pratima Singh is a Research Scientist and leads the Air Pollution domain at CSTEP. She holds a PhD in Natural Resources (Energy and Environment) from TERI University, New Delhi. She completed her M.Sc. (Tech) in Geotechnology from Maharaja Sayajirao University (Vadodara), and B.Sc. in Chemistry from South Gujarat University.
Pratima previously worked as a Resource Scientist with Compusense Automation (Ahmedabad) and as Project Manager with Gujarat Council of Science and Technology (GUJCOST). She received the Senior Research Fellowship from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for her doctoral research and is an honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, U.K.
Her research areas include air pollution studies, source apportionment, emission inventory, measurement and monitoring of air pollution sources, renewable energy (solar PV), sustainable development policies, and the energy-water-carbon nexus of water and wastewater infrastructure.
Dr. Mamdouh El Haj Assad

Mamdouh El Haj Assad is a Professor in the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering Department at University of Sharjah. He has worked at Aalto University as research scientist and docent in the Department of Energy Technology for 21 years, and as Associate Professor and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Australian College of Kuwait. His research expertise ranges through energysystem optimization, solar, geothermal and wind energy systems, absorption chillers, heat exchangers, artificial intelligence and environmental pollution. Dr. Assad has more than 200 publications in the form of articles, conferences and book chapters. Dr. Assad has recently published a book entitled Design and performance optimization of renewable energy systems (AP/Elsevier). Dr. Assad is acting as a Guest Editor in journals for more than 7 special issues related to renewable energy systems. Dr. Assad received the best teacher award of the year 2011 at Aalto University, Finland, and Sharjah Sustainability Award for the year of 2020, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
